Working in Romania through CADIMA YOU SEE
This page is for candidates. Employers: please use the pages for employers.
Under Romanian law (art. 23 (4) and (6) of Emergency Ordinance 32/2026), licensed placement agencies may not charge workers any commission, fee, deposit or guarantee. Our services are paid only by the employer in Romania. If anyone asks you for money in the name of CADIMA YOU SEE, do not pay and contact us directly.
How the process works
- Pre-selection and interview. CADIMA's own team (on site or online), or, where needed, a licensed local partner, pre-selects candidates for a specific job offer from a Romanian employer (occupation, salary, working hours, accommodation, transport). You have a video interview with the employer and, for skilled trades, a filmed practical test.
- Contracts. You sign a placement contract (agency – employer – you) in Romanian and in your language, and an employment contract with the employer, also bilingual. The salary must be at least the Romanian minimum wage (4,325 lei gross per month from 1 July 2026) and is paid to your bank account.
- Single application (cerere unică). We file it in the government platform WorkinRomania.gov.ro. The Immigration Inspectorate (IGI) checks the conditions within 30 days.
- D/AM2 visa. You go in person to the Romanian embassy or consulate with your passport and original documents; biometrics are taken. The consulate decides within 30 days. The visa is valid for 90 days.
- Travel and arrival. We organise the flight and the transport from the airport to your workplace or accommodation, and inform you at least 10 days before departure.
- Residence permit (permis unic). At least 30 days before the visa expires you apply at IGI for the single permit, which proves your right to stay and work. It is valid for the duration of your contract, up to 2 years, and can be renewed.
Documents you will need
- Valid passport (at least 3 months beyond the visa, 2 free pages)
- Criminal record certificate from your country, translated (Romanian/English/French) and legalised/apostilled
- Travel medical insurance (meeting the requirements of art. 27^2, point (1), letter a) of OUG 194/2002, republished) of at least 30,000 EUR
- Proof of means of subsistence for 90 days (Romanian minimum wage × 3), unless the employer covers it in the job offer
- CV, diplomas or skill certificates where the job requires them
- 2 photos 3×4 cm; visa fee (300 EUR by law; check with the consulate)
- After arrival: medical certificate, proof of accommodation, travel medical insurance (meeting the requirements of art. 27^2, point (1), letter a) of OUG 194/2002, republished), Romanian bank account
Your rights and obligations in Romania
Changing employer
You cannot initiate a change of employer during the first 6 months of work (except for serious breach by the employer). Between 6 months and 2 years, the change is done only through CADIMA, without a new visa, on your valid permit. If you leave before 6 months, the employer may recover the costs of your language course, housing and transport.
Update of 17 September 2026
